A kindled heart's burning ode

Oh Enchantress,
say what hidden fire,
draws in me such heart's desire?
What rapture thrills my feelings slow,
what passion sets my face aglow.

Your remembrances inspire in me,
this beautiful, blissful ecstacy.
Such close intimacy of our souls
has fulfilled a yearning fantasy.

With eyes shut and the lyre playing,
my hands feel your hair flowing.....
With the hands swooning to your voice faintly
your lips brush mine ever so lightly.

But when these eyes open to reality,
I see the fort,
the fortress of separation rising aloft mightly.

It takes fortitude to take on this fort,
but with paper as my shield and pen as my sword,
your name in my heart,
your knight in his shining armor ventures forth.

Break these walls I eventually will,
but to you I promise,
I won't rest until....
